11-05-2012 - 80 tricks to make gnomes happy
Trick number 1
Before: gnome Konrad posing in the wilderness.
After: a happy Konrad.
Moral: always make sure you mow the lawn, make a zen garden and push the well-being of gnomes to a higher level!
25-04-2012 - Antwerp Harbour Industry
Long time ago, in 2004, we went out for a night to shoot some photos in Antwerp at the harbour. This first one was shot with a Seagull 205-A, a Chinese plastic rangefinder. It's one of the few photos that came out of it 'cause the film got stuck, this cheap camera blocks quite often, but it has a sharp HAIOU 38mm lens. That time, I still worked in a photo store and even though I could choose from zillions of films, I used a 100 iso Kodak regular for this one. That said, I normally used to shoot the 160VC or Fuji Reala.
Long exposures at night, got to love it. But this one was just overkill. Despite these lights look so bright, it was quite dark right there. A few moments later, a wild cargo train came across on the tracks at the right. Loud but slowly moving forward... we didn't even see him coming.
Well you just have to imagine there was one...
Shot with a Nikon F-401. Kodak TMAX 3200. Grainy as hell, but quite fast to shoot from the hand.
I still remember I drove Thomas' ladies bicycle and played some chess game at café Den Billekletser later that night.
But aside from all that... we had a really nice time there, I should do these things more often!

16-03-2012 - A Forest
I hear her voice
calling my name
the sound is deep
in the dark
I hear her voice
and start to run
into the trees
suddenly I stop
but i know it's too late
I'm lost in a forest
all alone
02-03-2012 * Through-The-Bin Photography
Ok now, let me introduce you to a whole new experience of photography.
Like the famous Leica quote, 'my point of view', I tried a slight different angle and came up with the brilliant idea of looking through a rubbish bin.
The result was a panoramic view, as the bin created a fixed viewfinder, for the next photos on my exuberant photo expedition.
The lifestyle of looking through bins, brings photography obviously to a whole new level.
You create a buffer between what you're looking at far away, and the viewfinder right before you.
It brings peace and calmness inside your picture. Awareness of this space zens me out!
The Challenge
The real challenge is that you only have a passive view through the bins. Your creativity is a little restricted.
I urge everyone around the world to pick up some camera, and go on the street in quest for the holy bin!
When the pics are developed, just send me the results or post them on the intarweb, and leave me a message on the following e-mail address:
through-the-bin-consciousness@bulevardi.be
In the near future, I'll announce some links and pictures of the most creative, funniest or best looking bin-o-rama's.
01-03-2012 * Liège-Guillemins
So... I went to Liège to make some photos!
The ICE high speed train from Brussels-Midi to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof arriving on platform 1.
5-02-2012 - Hacken
Potatoes anno 2010.
I let these tentacles grow long enough for a photo session in my improvised studio.
But this potatoe now serves as cover art for a German book!
The publishers of Klett Cotta did a great job, I'm happy with the final result :)
You can buy the book right here !
Hacken: Leben auf dem Land in der digitalen Gegenwart by Christoph Braun.
14-01-2012 - Spring 2005
Palace of Justice, Regent Street, Brussels
Taken from Place Royal in 2005.
I was just scrolling through old pictures.
I think I'm going to make a new series of moving stills in the next few months.
