Hi, welcome to the boulevard!
On this page, I leave some individual 'things' that happen to get exposed by random cameras.

20-12-2011 * Strawberries

foto

Autumn leaves... as it should be wintertime by now.
This is how strawberries look like at the moment in my garden.
After a long autumn, the winter begun too late this year. I could have been taken this picture already 3 months ago. I should keep you posted about these strawberries.
In summer, this ugly wall on the back catches a lot of sun and it warms up like hell. It's a real micro-climat for growing vegetables.

Technically and composition-wise, this is a stunning picture. ;-)
It looks like a black & white picture and a color picture in one, but it isn't. The image seems to be split in two and it has an horizon between the two worlds.
As for the framing, symmetry and perspective unite, all levels are correct balanced except one: the vertical girder, which is oblique and certainly not centered, by purpose.
Although I chose aperture F 5.6, which is the g-spot of my 30mm prime lens, not everything is sharp. Note the blades of grass in front, totally blurred. Another negative point: vignetting? Not a lens flaw here, it's not a natural vignetting, I've been adding this by postprocessing because I like it's warmth and flavor.

Just think about it: how could one spend so much characters to this characterless photograph?

24-11-2011 * First Zorki S Results

  • At my parents
  • Ilse in the garden
  • Dender - Cycling - Denderleeuw
  • Dender - BD - Erembodegem - Beckton Dickinson
  • Trees
  • View at work - Palais de justice - Bruxelles
  • Ilse - Denderleeuw Railway Station
  • Ilse

My roll of Kodak Tmax 400 is - finally - developed.
I shot it as first roll with my brand new Zorki S camera.
The photos are not that sharp, but I'm quite happy with the results, certainly for a 1958 camera. I was affraid the shutter wouldn't work well anymore. But the camera is well cleaned/lubed/adjusted.

20-11-2011 * Some random Lomo!

  • Bruxelles Midi
  • As for every roll, an obligatory mirror shot.
  • Q Park - Bruxelles Midi - Hortaplein - Zuidertoren
  • Dinner with Ilse

It's been a while since I shot a roll with my Lomo camera.
A few weeks ago, my dad gave me an expired film from 2007, just needed to get it exposed ASAP :)
Fuji Superia 100 iso, these stills seem still stunning (mind the tonguetwister), although the batteries of my lightmeter were quite empty.

15-11-2011 * Burn a Bear!

foto

While waiting for the lab to develop a roll of lomo pictures, I'll have to kill some time... for a week!
Where are those 1-hour-photo-minilabs when you need 'em?
... meanwhile I just burn a random bear!

06-11-2011 * My First Zorki S

foto

foto

Some weeks ago, I bought a Zorki S. (Yes, another camera in my collection...)
It's a former USSR rangefinder camera manufactured by KMZ in Krasnagorsk, Moscow.
As lot of Russian factories made copies of German camera's, these Zorki's are aswel copies of the famous German Leica II. WYSIWYG: not exactly the same, but nearly :)

The Zorki S has been made between 1955-1958 and has a nice collapsible Industar 22 lens, while the Leica has an Elmar lens.
Anyway, this one I own is a refurbished one with fake Leitz and Elmar engravings. So actually a copy of a copy... But it had quite good 'CLA' (cleaned, lubed and adjusted). So I'm now shooting my first TMAX B/W roll and I hope to show some results soon.

25-10-2011 * Through The Viewfinder

foto

A nice way of taking pictures, is through the viewfinder of old Twin Lens Reflex camera's. In this case, I gave it a try with my Russian Lubitel 166B.
This picture is made with a Nikon and a nice Vivitar macro filter, of course.
